They say it starts with one great idea.
If there's one thing, and we mean one thing, dear
readers, that we can all be certain with about dear, old Macau, it's the fact
that discussing the weather here is not small talk, it's gospel. One minute
we're basking under generous amounts of sunshine, next thing we know it's
raining so hard that we're considering staying in.
If our suspicions come true, and they have before,
then Autumn is just going to happen one day, and it may or may not last, so
we'll be expecting a cool breeze one day, humid heat the next day, then almost
wintry cold after that, all within a week. Better to prep out your transition
outfits now, and fast.
Good thing there's more than one way to ensure you
won't freeze or else melt when summer starts being fall, and we've just got the
list for you!
So without further ado, fashionistas, here are
three looks to nail transition weather dressing:
1.) Knot your Cover-up on Your
Waist
There's a reason this 90's-era trend never fades.
It's one of the most surefire ways to add that instant cool-girl effect to
almost any outfit, and with almost any cover-up - blazer, sweater, thin jacket,
even a coat if you're feeling particularly adventurous.
For the classic look though, you could never go
wrong with the denim jacket or flannel shirt. You'll always be ready for sudden
chills anytime of day.

2.) Work with Thinner Layers
Here's a style tip for you, fashionistas: you can
layer in summer. The key is to focus on thinner pieces like the long vest
below. Thin outerwear are great because once winter kicks in, you'd still be
able to wear them under the thicker coats and jackets. Opt for materials like
cotton and chiffon.
Tip: Layering is also best done
if you play with proportions.

3.) Invest in a Statement
Scarf
Preferably, one that can double
as a bag accessory, or triple as a head wrap. A scarf can be so many things,
and many a chic female knows that, which is why they always have one in
their bags. Use it to brush back your hair from your face as a headband, or
artfully twist it around your neck and knot it to replace a necklace.
Tip: Wear it best belted on top
of a jacket. Or if it gets too hot to handle, use it as an accessory for your
favorite handbag.

Frothy, flirty, and fun – those are the first three adjectives one can come up with when checking out ‘Sunshine Avenue’, the 2016 Spring/Summer Collection under Dare to Dream.
Hello MOTown Fashionistas! Welcome to Tips & Tricks by MOTown Style, the place where we share with you the how-tos on tackling new trends, easy DIYs, and basically how to stay infinitely stylish 365 days a year, rain or shine – and we all know how fickle our dear SAR can be.
If you have stayed in Macao long enough to experience summer season, then you may be well-educated on just how unappealing, how irritating, this season can get. Summer in our little SAR is not the most comfortable of seasons, with the weather ranging from highly humid oven-like conditions to sudden thunderstorms. It’s enough to drive even the best of us a little insane.
So, without further ado, here are MOTown Style’s 5 tips for dressing in Macao during summer season. We can’t promise it’ll improve your mood, but we can ensure that you will be as stylish and as cool as humanly possible, even if you are still melting on the inside.
You know how, in Macao, clothes seem to stick to your skin after a few hours, like a sweaty glue? This effect is worse in summer, and even more unbearable when your clothes are clingy to begin with. Take it from us and reach for your flowy pieces: light dresses, summer rompers and breezy chiffon tops, and stay cool for the day.
Trust us, we love ourselves some black and grey, but these colors attract heat much faster than lighter-colored pieces. Good news though, dark-colored clothing lovers: beige, camel, white, dusky pink, and greige are all so in right now, just as basic, and as wearable as your basic black. Dare we say “Nude is the New Black”? And if you're a feeling a little funky, how about some light summer prints?
There is little worse than wearing your chunky costume jewelry throughout the scorching heat and coming home to find that the green oxidization made by the metal and your sweat combined have clung to your skin. Instead, why not opt for cloth accessories which are much lighter, like a silk scarf, bandanna, or a lace or ribbon choker. You could also opt to wear barely-there rings and necklaces.
So is chambray, linen, and silk. These materials are natural fibers that are lighter and breezier against the skin. Stay away from synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyester, though, if you can help it. These fabrics are not breathable and will keep all the heat and sweat clinging to your body.
Macao’s summer weather darts from intense sunshine to heavy rains in a matter of hours within one day, so we highly suggest bringing both your sunnies and a small foldable umbrella in your bag at all times. No, we’re not being paranoid, this freak-weather actually happens more often than you think!
