One can describe the shopping options in Macau as, for lack of a better word, choice-deficient. But don’t cross-off our favorite little SAR just yet, MOTown Fashionistas, because though we don’t know they’re there, doesn’t mean they aren’t. Case in point, the next feature we have today – the very charming, very nostalgic Vintage Market Macau.

The shop is tucked behind old, Portuguese-era buildings along R. São Roque; a well-kept secret not really trying to hide, with its brightly-painted, yellow, grated metal door and the large signage in green. The interior is a mish-mash of eras and influences, with 50’s taffeta and silk dresses, 80’s shoulder pads and floral blouses, and 90’s denim and band tees, all harmonized and neatly laid out for all vintage lovers to experience and enjoy. Visitors are encouraged to try out the pieces, see what matches their current style.

Aside from the clothing options though, there’s also the large number of knickknacks, heirloom jewelry, 40’s kitten heels, and a selection of hats and leather bags.

The owners are a couple with a fervent love for all things vintage and it shows – both with how they deck themselves out in the same vintage-inspired outfits as the ones they’re selling, and how they talk animatedly about their favorite pieces. They tell us the story of how they’ve found each piece, where it came from, how to take care of it. Their considerable collection came from all over the world, it seemed, with pieces flown in from places like Japan, U.S.A., Japan, and all over Europe.
